Match Report: Sheffield Daily Telegraph: 8th March 1920:
LEEDS UNITED v NOTTS COUNTY RESERVES.
A keen game, but a lot of erratic shooting
After a keen interesting game, in the presence of 5,000 spectators., Leeds United defeated Notts County Reserves, at Elland Road,
by two goals to nothing. Plenty of good football was displayed and although County did more of the attacking in the first half, capital
defensive play by the United prevented them from scoring. The passing on both sides was splendidly executed, but erratic shooting
spoiled more than one promising movement, Leeds United were superior to the County in the matter of forward play in the second half,
and Plows, who made many fine openings, opened the scoring after a powerful combined movement, while the second goal was the
result of a splendid combined attack, the ball being rushed into the net by the inside forwards.
